announcing the possible expansion of mercedes-benz’s uniform off-roader family during the 2014 beijing motor show, the concept coupé SUV illustrates a sporty and dynamic study of the german manufacturer’s ‘on-road line’ – GLA, GLK, M, GL and G-class. designed with a flowing side line, stretched greenhouse and radiator grille with central chrome louvre, the compact all-wheel drive sports utility vehicle places emphasis on the rear-end styling of the S-class coupé. the concept is finished using an ‘alu-beam’, which is reminiscent of the silver arrows of the 1930s and 1950s.

the upright sports grille with single louvre is framed by three-dimensional full-LED multi-beam headlamps

illuminated side sills are reminiscent of the running boards found on classic mercedes-benz SUVs

soft cubes dominate the grille insert with a forward-sloping hood

the directional indicators operate with a moving digital light band

wide, 22-inch wheels make the vehicle sit pronouncedly square on the road

the rear-end is designed in the style of the current S-class coupé offering
