‘house s’ by keiji ashizawa, tokyo, japan

located in a quiet residential neighborhood of central tokyo, japan is ‘house s’, a single family residence by
tokyo-based studio keiji ashizawa. the site of an old samurai residence, the area is filled with mature pine
and zelkova trees, enabling a design which connects with nature and removes itself from the urban district.
each floor incorporates plantings, with the ground level boundary to the dining and living area opening to a lushly
vegetated garden, allowing the greenery is permeate the wooden interior.

the interior was configured as a series of small spaces, reducing the complexity of the arrangement and producing
a variety of quaint experiences dictated by air flow, natural light filtering from outside and art work.
