za bor architects makes yandex office pop in moscow

yandex is a russian-based technology company, which has found an office in moscow developed by za bor architects. the ever growing company has collaborated with za bor in the past when creating headquarters in four countries in 12 cities. these 21 offices all have a similar theme that encompasses the IT-firm’s attitude to promote a positive working environment. vivid colors and various meeting spaces are arranged in the campuses but each with their own identity. in the moscow complex, a continous ribbon-like form flows among the first three floors of the 63,000 square foot building, creating diverse working places from meeting rooms to private cubicles. these dimensional pods are dispersed throughout the renovated structure, and although enclosed, have some form of transparency incorporated in the design. this is the second yandex office in moscow and is located in a former straganov-family building. preserving the character of the past interior, columns and other brickwork are left in tact. an exposed ceiling reveals communication lines and lighting. other decorative elements are meant to serve as playful components to boost morale. in comparison, the fourth and fifth floors are occupied by more formal boardrooms.
