originally presented at salone del mobile in 2013, ‘the MyWorld lounge system’ by philippe starck for cassina responds to the needs and habits of a constantly changing world where work and leisure play an essential role. the latest iteration of the modular furniture unit was unveiled during IMM cologne 2014, offering the user total freedom for both social and professional use, particularly for those with an easy flexibility between the home and workplace.

‘we live in a schizophrenic society. let’s assume that,’ says philippe starck ‘MyWorld is a cocoon, a nest, a world where we can be egocentric and comfortably commune with our own shadow or collect some snatches of news from the world, that is said to be real.’

comprised of a variety of pieces that can be grouped together – and integrated with accessories such as tables and box-cupboards – the lounge system is available in oak, rosewood or varnished color combinations, with screens also available in two heights, which create a definitive space around the sofa.

accentuating the relationship between ‘user and device’, ‘MyWorld’ features an electrical power-station, a USB charger and a duracell powermat wireless charging platform discreetly built into the wooden storage compartment.
