comprised of 800 acrylic transparent spheres, ‘sparkling bubbles’ by emmanuelle moureaux suspends from the ceiling in an undulating wave of varying heights. conceived in collaboration with coca-cola’s rejuvenation of the heritage glass by thomas meyerhoffer, the sculptural installation seeks to evoke the sensations and reactions one perceives after tasting the iconic soda. each small circle that makes up the structure encloses tiny air bubbles at its center, an impression alluding to the sparkling, fizzing drink. the tornado shaped composition is layered in diverse chroma, dyed 34 delicate shades and hues that gradually shift to monochromatic white at its core. funneling into the heritage glass, the artwork evokes the effervescent beverage, an encapsulation of the personal emotions, memories, and nostalgia someone might experience when indulging in a coca-cola. the installation was recently exhibited at the designer’s event ‘any tokyo 2013‘ at aoyama ci – plaza, tokyo.
