fiftythree, the company behind the ‘paper’ app, has translated their digital creativity platforms as tangible pieces of hardware with the release of ‘pencil’, a wooden stylus suited for iPad models. its form and material is crafted from sustainably harvested wood, influenced by the traditional carpenter pencil, but harbors a technological core. pencil’s battery charges with a USB port in under 90 minutes, powering for up to one month on a single charge. by connecting via bluetooth — without the responsibility of pairing with a settings menu — users are able to easily and quickly create. adaptive palm rejection instantly recognizes whether a hand or pencil is touching the page, carefully tuned for optimal interface awareness. the two new models are available in walnut and graphite brushed aluminum, and retail for USD 59.95 and 49.95, respectively.
