in anticipation of her new album ‘artpop’ — which will be released worldwide today, november 11th, 2013 — grammy award winning pop superstar lady gaga has debuted a flying dress at the brooklyn navy yard. the super high-tech transport prototype ‘volantis’— taking its namesake from ‘voler’, meaning fly in french and ‘atlantis’, a myth — is constructed with six, rotund disks in a hexagonal formation and a body-suit like contraption that strap onto the famed singer. for the creation and design of the eccentric wardrobe piece, gaga worked with techhaus, the technical division of haus of haga (her behind-the-scenes creative team), who transformed the artistic vision into a functional reality. ‘although she is a vehicle,’ lady gaga says of the dress at its unveiling, ‘she is essentially a metaphor for me. I will be a vehicle today for their voices.’
