tidal flower - aquatic furniture by Fede790 from argentina
designer's own words:
Tidal flower is a concept of aquatic furniture, wich is able to handle three persons at the same time and it indicate the sea's level in real time using the tidal phenomena as a way of free energy.
This object will be always tied to the bottom of the sea, with the chain large enough to maintain the flower closed by buoyancy force when the tide is high, so that when the tide is low the chain is relaxed making the flower to be open and floating over the sea exhibiting the pistil to the public.
The buoyancy is reached because the petals (seats) are totally hollow inside, so when the tide rises the petals (wich are articulated to the pistil) will tend to verticality, making the flower to be closed, while the chain is tensed.
If the chain is not totally tensed, is possible to open the seats in a manually way to access, with the aid of secondary petals using them as stairs.
The pistil and the external side of the petals are treated with a luminiscent paint that collect the light of the sun during the day and emanates light when the sun hides, allowing to detect its position and status during the night as a visual spectacle.
Tidal flower is a concept of furniture designed to be in the sea, and it is able to hold three persons at the same time.
This object can also indicate the sea level in real time, taking the energy from the tidal phenomena to reach its objective. So the flower will be open when the tide is low, and closed when it is high.

If the chain that holds the object is not tense, is possible to open it and get into the seat manually with the aid of secondary petals that function as steps.
The morphology of the object varies depending on the time of day, and the difference in sea level caused by the phenomenon of the tide.
The pistil and the external side of the petals are treated with a material wich absorbs the sunlight during the day to produce luminiscence when the sun is hidden, being possible to appreciate its position and status during the night.
All the petals are totally hollow inside so they can float, they’re articulated to the pistil, who has a heavy weight under the water to maintain the equilibrium of the entire object.
