Garmoshka by Magenta from israel
designer's own words:
The “Garmoshka” is a lighting fixture inspired by industrial accordion sconce, and developed through a playful study of the scissor hinge movement.
The fixture is concealed within a box, which is opened to reveal the light.
The lamp’s frames are constructed from thin steel rods which transmit low voltage electricity from the base of the lamp to the lighting element.
Due to the electric transmission through the rods, the lamp’s body remains free of wires and allows subtle movement from open to closed
position.
Materials:
Lamp base - coated iron
Lamp cover - coated aluminium
Rods - spring steel
Light source - 12 V LED lamp (warm light)
The Garmoshka was first introduced in February 2013, and has been produced since in small series by Magenta Studio.
