1x1 pavilion built for I love urban intervention in bratislava

serving a wide range of activities, the 1×1 pavilion was constructed as part of a summer school program ‘I love urban intervention’ at the faculty of architecture STU in bratislava. the idea for the temporary installation was initially realized by architect katarina bohacova and artist bohus kubinsky, where they explored the concept of ephemeral spaces combined with need to open the school with the nearby square of freedom. the ideas were developed in a competition between fourth year semester students with a project won by michal rachela. the shape of the upside-down pyramids was built from euro pallets, creating a continued platform that enabled a wide range of activities. the 1×1 pavilion also became a university market, where students from various faculties can acquire needed books, and also as an area to hold various discussions about temporary architecture, the importance of local communities and public space.
