S/coordinato: a collection of italian memories by vittorio venezia

the italian culture institute of paris asked vittorio venezia to design a collection of merchandising objects to sell in their bookshop and use during their italian cooking courses.
 the project showcases a mismatched array of objects influenced by italian tradition. conceived as travel items instead of finished products, they are mismatched as they developed using different methodologies: some are 3D printed, others combine ready-made materials to manipulate familiar objects. entitled ‘S/coordinato’, the concept plays with indirect memories such as the rolls on the lagoon in venice, the chimneys in a painting by giorgio de chirico, even the big domes in turin, florence and rome. the project re-interprets common artifacts from italian culture and transforms them into simple objects; some of the objects designed have been developed with traditional italian craftsmen and artisans. the glass is made in vicenza, the tinplate in palermo, the sun glasses in sorrento, the marble is from comiso. other objects have been made with rapid prototyping processes.
