approximately 45 international architects from around the world have presented their vision of the exhibition site for the world expo 2017 exhibition in astana, kazakhstan. with the theme closely related to a ‘green economy’, architects including zaha hadid architects, coop himmelb(l)au, UNStudio, snohetta and j mayer h, each taking into account ‘the possibility of using alternative energy sources and the autonomous water and heat provision in each of the construction’, says nursultan nazarbayev, the president of kazakhstan.

the theme is aimed to concentrate on both the future of energy, but also on innovative, practical energy solutions and their global impact. expo-2017 will be the first time that a major international exhibition of this kind is coming to a country from the former soviet union. more than 100 countries and 10 international organizations are expected to participate. around 2-3 million people are expected to visit the international pavilions from june to september 2017.
