japanese lighting company yamagiwa presents new designs by A+A cooren, makio hasuike, toyo ito,
shoichi uchiayama and werteloberfell platform on the occasion of milan design week 2011.

japanese designer shoichi uchiayama’s ‘U-pendant’ features a gently
curved shade that emits an
upward and downward light that utilizes the
latest LED light source. the upward light emanates through
the frosted
acrylic disk in the centre creating flower-like pattern on the lamp
shade’s underside surface,
while its reflection spreads around the space
softly.

‘aurelia’ by werteloberfell platform

the ‘aurelia’ lighting fixtures by werteloberfell platform capture the movement of jellyfish swimming underwater,
creating a timeless form that emanates an even and pleasant light. the lamp shades are crafted from glass made
in combination with modern and meticulous fittings.

‘LED task light’ by A+A cooren

paris-based studio A+A cooren’s ‘LED task light’ is smooth as a pebble picked up on the riverside.
its form has a gently rounded head that fits naturally within one’s hand, making the adjustment
of the light very easy. a functional, compact and energy-efficient LED design, the light provides harmony
and familiarty in the office space and private rooms. special technology is applied to create uniform lighting
with a single LED unit.

‘LED biolite’ by makio hasuike

milan-based designer makio hasuike has created an LED lamp with a streamlined sculptural presence complemented
with the flexible movement of its head and arm. known as the ‘LED biolite’, the lamp exhibits an extruded
aluminium arm that is slightly swelled in the center, giving the impression of looking like a light ribbon
in which a floating head is sitting upon. the lamp provides an ideal lighting environment for work with an
LED quality that has a high color rendering index, high illuminance and natural color re-creation.
