presented at salone del mobile 2011 is ‘biknit’, a seating design by patricia urquiola for contemporary brand, moroso. available in a chair and chaise lounge version, the collection features an enlarged stocking-stitch design which acts as both the primary surface and the structure.

contrasting materials, forms and textures comprise the pieces, which are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. a continuous and harmonious cycle of curving and repetitious stockings intertwine to create a decorative and load-bearing seat, which covers the steel frame. a bold and angular wooden base sits below the seat and wraps upwards onto the backrest, appearing to seamlessly balance the organic body.
