ronan + erwan bouroullec: from the baguette to pila chair for magis455 x 660 x 770 mm images © studio bouroullec
originally conceived as the ‘baguette’ chair, to follow similar design specifications of their ‘baguette’ table for magis in 2010, ronan and erwan bouroullec‘s now ‘pila’ chair for magis is a seating object that has been constructed using the minimum amount of materials and assembly components possible. made with a plywood seat and back, the chair’s supports consist of four thin sticks of solid wood that are maintained by an injected aluminium structure. the back of the chair, like the blade of a knife, comes into the main frame, while guaranteeing high support resistanc. ‘pila’ has been conceived to be as light as possible, as if floating in space, and comes in natural and stained ash.
