irish-born, UK-based designer david irwin’s wireless ‘M lamp’ for juniper offers a contemporary play on the aesthetics and function of 19th-century english miner’s lanterns. it is powered by an internal lithium iron phosphate battery which can last up to 18 hours on its standard setting. the product stands at 230mm, and projects up to 3,000 lux of warm light via its adjustable head. in standard mode, a dimmable LED emits 1,000 lux for more than 8 hours on a single charge, which is ample brightness for late-night work or for reading in bed. in the case of a power outage, the the lamp will automatically illuminate at full power, making it a useful companion for emergency situations.

the M lamp’s LED is rated to last 50,000 hours, while its iron phosphate battery can safely run 2,000 charging cycles with no loss in performance, guaranteeing that users will enjoy the portable light’s company for many years to come. equally important, it can be entirely disassembled and almost completely recycled as it is made entirely of high-grade aluminum.
