steven haulenbeek: APOC lamp uses honest materials + joinery

the use of honest materials and construction techniques were the principles behind the development of the ‘APOC’ lamp. designer steven haulenbeek has employed a simple construction of four wooden struts (available in walnut or oak) which have been cut with dovetail joints, allowing the components to effortlessly slide into one another; as well determining the angles at which the parts sit, ensuring structural stability. the longest element is outfitted with a routed channel of LED lights which offer a warm white glow, diffused by a thin strip of etched lexan. ‘APOC’ can easily be shipped in a tube and assembled by the user, with a jack located at the back of the head allows the electrical cord to be disconnected. ‘APOC’ was exhibited in ‘chicagoland’ at wanted design during new york design week 2013.
