instead of a clunky cable box or DVR system hidden in the cabinet, san francisco-based designer yves behar’s studio fuseproject has developed an entertainment system that offers a cohesive physical experience to accompany their digital one – ‘fanTV’, a remote and set-top box for fanhattan. designed as a room center piece, the pebble-shaped remote responds to the subtlest touch. one simply taps or swipes to navigate their movies and shows. mimicking nestled stones, the collective set re-aligns itself together with the use of magnets, ensuring the remote has a place where it can be found again. influenced by the simplicity of offering a zen-like experience, the device stimulates discovery through a cinematic looking database of all the world’s movies and shows.
