june 1st will mark the opening of the ‘tchoban foundation- museum for architectural drawing‘ by moscow-based practice SPeeCH tchoban and kuznetsov, housing some of the world’s rarest architectural illustrations as well as a permanent collection from the tchoban foundation which contains the worksof sergey tchoban. located in berlin’s prenlauer berg art district in the site of the former pfefferberg factory complex, the new museum is placed againsta shared fire-wall with a four-story historical residential structure, suggesting the unique proportions of the narrow vertical structure. five apparent blocks cast in concrete are stacked upon one another and slightly offset, etched with architectural motifs that are intended to emphasizethe building’s function and represent the layering of media used in drawing. the top section is made of glass and is slightly cantilevered over the square, offering views of the historic area. special attention was paid to the subtle details throughout the design, reflecting the exhaustive labor put into the waning art of architectural drawing – a subject dear to the authors of the work.

the first exhibition titled ‘paestum piranesi. unknown master drawings’ will be opened to the public on june 4th.
