designer's own words:
FRAMED introduces OLED panels to the consumer market in a friendly, approachable and attractive way, allowing us to gradually get used to this new type of light source.
Two 140x140mm OLED panels are placed in a asymmetric plastic frame that features a 6.25mm stereo plug and button at the base.
Trough the plug, the FRAME can be connected to a range of light fixtures. The modular characteristic of FRAMED allows it to be used in various quantities, depending on the type of lighting required. As the two OLED panel in each FRAME 'shine' in opposite directions, they provide both direct and indirect light.
The edge of the frame expresses the thin-ness of the two panels combined. This lightness of shape continues to the base of the frame where the on/off button is positioned.
Above all, FRAMED is human friendly. It turns two OLED panels into a pleasant light source that is thin, does not get hot, is double sided and also encourages tangible interaction.
