NIMA is an urn intended to be buried.

When committing to the earth, a next of kin breaks the glazed lid part, thereby creating an opening. Time will allow the earth to be mixed with the ashes ... The ashes to be mixed with the earth ... Slow and steady ... Little by little...

This object approaches a significant aspect linked with the last wishes of the deceased: the future of his ashes.

Some sociologists explain that unconsciously Men need to materialize the death of others by a place or an object. This is why sometimes the scattering of ashes destabilizes next of kin.

This urn tryes to respect the wishes and needs of each and every one.

It determines a place of meditation which becomes eternal. The deceased returns to the earth, as he wished. And remain in the minds of his family through this piece as a real proof of the event but also the past life of the deceased, his real existence.

Relic, remembrance, memory of a loved one, this object fragment is transmitted from generation to generation, full of anecdotes and stories of lives.

Its design is inspired by first Etruscan urns: a jar with a paving stone by way of lid. Lines are voluntarily basic. They do not try to return the more joyful, or less painful, nor even beautiful event. The design of this object aims to be discreet, as silencer, to make way for the already heavy feelings.

Material used for this object is a mixture of clay and paper, from which the proportions allow to obtain a grain in the rocky aspect. By drying, this material becomes so solid as the terra-cotta. The absence of firing makes the urn to become biodegrable. After being burried, over time, the paper is going to dissolve itself allowing the clay to mix with the earth which surrounds it.
The «relic» part, to keep,is covered of a kind of enamel which will allow its preservation.
