‘il treno’ is a dining ‘compartment’ which offers a private table for two–including ample storage for your fine china, if desired — fashioned off the old steam train carriages of the orient express. available in ash or oak wood, combined with steel structural support elements, the modular furniture piece is meant to instill notions of intimacy and romanticism–offering an experience reminiscent of enjoying a nice dinner on a train as one is being taken to a new location, the surrounding landscape passing by. designed by tjep., ‘il treno’, alongside other new works by the dutch studio such as ‘isolée’ (see designboom’s coverage of this self-sustaining home here), is being presented at plusdesign gallery during milan design week 2013. tjep. designs il treno as a modular dining experience‘il treno’ is available in two versions: one with storage cabinets and drawers built into the seating; and one without
