located in winnipeg, manitoba, the seven oaks hospital foundation commissioned canadian artist simon hughes to create a custom mosaic as the finishing touch on an ‘access to care’ hospital renovation. the conception stretches across the 444 sq ft two-story glass atrium, providing a calm welcoming area for patients, visitors and staff. ‘the sunrise reflects the optimism at the hospital’, says president and COO, carrie solmundson, ‘making great strides in putting patients first by connecting them with other health services and programs to get well and stay well’. artaic innovation combines modern technology with an ancient art form to create montages with fast lead times andmore design freedom, making the medium more sophisticated and accessible.
