Nestled in the lush expanse of Iporanga, São Paulo, a region celebrated for its vibrant landscapes and deep integration with native vegetation, Casa Iporanga by Felipe Hess Arquitetos reinvents an existing structure. At the heart of this transformation is a distinctive L-shaped roof, retained from the original design and reimagined as the foundation for an entirely new architectural intervention.

The result is a luminous white residence anchored by a spacious living room that extends into the veranda. Connecting all areas to vast views of the surrounding garden, the layout encompasses four private suites, an open-plan kitchen, a dining-living space, a cozy family room, and a strategically positioned service area.

The São Paulo-based team at Felipe Hess Arquitetos aims to accommodate shared moments with their design. The residence features a barbecue area that opens onto the garden, a space conceived for connection and celebration. Large white shutters envelop the structure to filter natural light, promote cross-ventilation, and ensure privacy. Juxtaposing these light elements are two vertical blocks clad in charred wood, housing technical features such as the water tank and utility areas while lending a rustic, tactile contrast to the overall composition. The interiors, curated by the architects, reflect a serene and minimal aesthetic. A soft material palette dominates, with exposed brick providing a warm focal point in the family room, while muted tones infuse the other spaces with tranquility.
