breathable stone facade by maanchitra enfolds family residence in rural india

House of Breathing Stone integrates with natural surroundings

The House of Breathing Stone by Maanchitra is a residence designed for a family of eight, situated on a 5000 sqft plot amidst lush agricultural fields in India. The design comprises five bedrooms, a multipurpose room, and public areas such as a living, dining, and kitchen space, along with an interactive garden. The concept integrates the natural environment, with mature trees, including a prominent coconut tree, guiding the design’s sensitivity toward its surroundings.

The project’s focal point is a breathable facade that encourages a fluid interaction between the house and its natural surroundings. The residence is aligned with the principles of Vastu Shastra, balancing energy and spatial alignment. A key feature of the house is a suspended mezzanine floor, which connects various parts of the home visually and enhances the flow of light, air, and outdoor views. This element establishes continuity across the interior spaces while maintaining openness and connectivity throughout.

Maanchitra selects natural materials for a serene Family Retreat

The designers at Maanchitra carefully curated the material palette to complement the natural surroundings with a selection of marble stone, natural wood, and Kota stone paired with simple white walls. The white walls serve as a backdrop for selected artworks, while exposed concrete ceilings introduce a textural contrast, adding warmth and comfort. The interplay of these materials creates an ambiance that is at once inviting, cozy, and reflective, making the house a serene retreat for the family.

The design emphasizes a balance between openness and intimacy, where architectural elements harmonize with the natural landscape. The result is a residence that merges the interior with the exterior, fostering a tranquil and connected living space.
