Renault brings the prototype of its Twingo E-Tech to the Paris Motor Show 2024, making its public debut after it was first announced in November 2023. Between October 14th and 20th, visitors to the international motor show can see the electric show car firsthand before it goes into production and hits the market in 2026. The show car of the Twingo E-Tech follows just behind the recently unveiled retro-futuristic R17 restomod coupe.

round headlights with floating LED rings for a modern feel

The first Renault Twingo came out in 1992, dressed up in vibrant monochrome. The car manufacturer retains that signature singular shade, but this time, it has more of a lush shade—green in this case—with a surface that glistens through its finishings. Visitors to the Paris Motor Show 2024 can see a series of upgrades Renault has for the electric Twingo. The obvious is its front, where the electric car seems to have an expressive face.

It’s the round headlights with floating LED rings and the lines of the front end that bring out this beaming look to the vehicle. Because of these curved headlamps, the Renault Twingo E-Tech looks like it’s smiling, and it appears to ‘wink’ when one of the rounded headlamps turns off. This design approach is inspired by the first generation of Twingo, and Renault wants to keep it that way as their form of homage. Looking at the electric prototype’s frame, it is rounded, which suits well with the high-tech and modern technologies installed within and around it.

It’s not just the headlamps that are rounded, and visitors to the Paris Motor Show 2024 can notice it. For the E-Tech, Renault also shapes the door handles circular, a style that circles back to the classic 1992 model of the Twingo. These handles now have a round rim that lights up, enclosing them, so users know where to open the doors in the dark. Above the Renault Twingo E-Tech, ample-sized glass tops the roof to let natural light in and offer the driver and passengers views from the outside.

The visual details around the Twingo E-Tech continue with the rear design that brings back the classic model’s tail. Renault placed a black rim around the rear windshield as an attempt to modernize the electric car, and the taillights protrude and share the same shape as the front headlamps for uniformity. On top of the car’s hood, there are three small openings on both sides that allow air to flow in and out of the motor. As of publishing the story, the Twingo E-Tech at the Paris Motor Show 2024 is only an electric prototype, and Renault says that the real model can hit the market in 2026 with an entry price of less than 20,000 EUR.
