SCHTAUSS repurposes leftover building materials into a modular shed office space

SCHTAUSS is Built from Reclaimed and Local Materials

Designer Daniil Aron-Mokhov constructs the SCHTAUSS Modular Shed Office utilizing leftover materials from the owner’s previous home renovation, complemented by locally sourced materials from contractors and small businesses. The project involved four days of laser cutting and fabrication at a local FabLab, followed by a two-day installation on-site in Vancouver, Canada. Positioned on the north side of the property, SCHTAUSS is set two meters away from the main building and serves as a multifunctional office space.

SCHTAUSS offers views through rooftop patio and openings

SCHTAUSS’ design functions as a multifunctional office space and features three operable openings on the southern facade, facilitating natural ventilation and providing flexible access points. The lower openings double as seating patios, enhancing outdoor usability. At the rear, a ladder provides access to a rooftop patio, offering views of the mountains typically obscured by the surrounding 2.5-meter perimeter hedges.
