Design Mumbai is set to offer an international platform for India’s vibrant and evolving design scene,

shifting away from its predominant association with mass production to highlight the country’s artisanal craftsmanship while embracing global design innovation. Hosted by the Montgomery Group, the four-day international trade event takes place from November 06 to 09 at Jio World Garden in Mumbai, showcasing the work of leading global brands such as Poltrona Frau, Boss Design, VitrA, De Sede, Jaipur Rugs, Technogym and Hästens along with local artisans, who demonstrates India’s ingenuity and creative approach to contemporary design.

 

‘We’re bringing a whole host of innovative and pioneering designs to the show, along with specially commissioned installations from key partners such as JSW Paints and Royal Enfield, and exclusive appearances by some of the most recognised names in the industry. At the same time, we’re committed to celebrating India’s rich design and craft heritage. That’s why we’ve handpicked a remarkable range of homegrown talent, providing a global stage to showcase their work and craftsmanship,’ shares Ian Rudge, Co-Founder of Design Mumbai.

india’s new annual international design event

 

As part of the Montgomery Group’s global event series, Design Mumbai 2024 debuts as India’s first international event dedicated to contemporary design. Taking place in Mumbai, the show serves as a meeting ground for design professionals while introducing global insights and perspectives to the heart of the city. An exciting mix of local craftsmanship and international brands will be on display, vetted by a professional advisory panel to ensure the highest standards of quality and originality.

AN OVERVIEW OF what’s on stage at design mumbai 2024

 

Spanning across various areas of the interior design sector – from furniture to lighting, kitchens to bathrooms, workplaces to outdoor living – Design Mumbai’s curated selection offers a diverse range of products, including upcycled creations and high-end designs. Among the standout international exhibitors is Italian furniture brand Poltrona Frau, presenting its collections designed by Faye Toogood, Sebastian Herkner, Draga and Aurel and Jean-Marie Massaud, Swiss manufacturer de Sede with their most popular and newly launched models, and contract furniture company Boss Design.

Beyond furniture, brands like Brokis, Axolight, Catellani and Smith and Martinelli Luce – presented by Innovative Design Studio – showcase lighting solutions, while furniture dealer Fern & Ade celebrates the latest Danish designs from leading brands including HAY, &Tradition, Montana, New Works and Wendelbo, among others. Adding local craftsmanship to the programme, hand-embroidered textiles crafted by over eighty women from rural villages, eco-conscious lighting collections made from natural materials like brass, bamboo, and terracotta, and zero-waste designs using discarded industrial materials for upcycled creations demonstrate sustainable practices and innovative techniques rooted in India’s rich heritage.

 

‘Our goal with Design Mumbai is to deliver top-tier quality and originality to the architecture and design community. We aim to provide a unique experience and a diverse mix of content, whether attendees are specifying for a private residential project or a commercial venture such as a hotel or restaurant.
