Jeonghyeon Jin’s XX-02-1 coffee table embodies the design concept of ‘Inside Architecture’, fusing modern aesthetics with innovative structural elements. The furniture designer has always been fond of slender, linear silhouettes, leading him to wonder whether the legs of a table could be as thin as a line. Topped by a layer of transparent glass, offering a sleek and modern look while revealing the underlying steel structure, XX-02-1 thus emphasizes simplicity, functional design, structural beauty, and minimalism.

Jeonghyeon Jin envisioned that every component of the furniture should be essential and intrinsically necessary, which he considered to be the true essence of minimalism. The XX-02-1 coffee table then emphasizes the essence of materiality. Its slim 6T stainless steel legs provide a visually light and clean appearance, while vertical and diagonal tension elements ensure stability and even weight distribution. Enhancing the table’s structural integrity, the wires support support the thin legs and bear the load of the glass surface. Further, the designer ensures that the tension can be adjusted using a hex wrench to maintain optimal tensile strength depending on the environment.

 

The grid frame on the table’s top was designed with varying lengths to reduce monotony, allowing the wires to create a continuously evolving silhouette from any angle. Below the grid frame, a 2T stainless steel plate structure hovers in the air, anchored by the wire endpoints, with four perforated circles crossing the frame to create dynamic visual effects. This table is designed to perform optimally in a variety of environments, ensuring versatility.
