Editorial arranges an ‘L’ shape layout for Sabino 10 residence

Editorial’s Sabino 10 is a residence in Zibatá, Querétaro, Mexico, that skillfully redefines spatial boundaries on a narrow plot, emphasizing maximized views. Externally, it presents as a solid facade composed of three hermetic volumes. Internally, however, this concept transforms, with spaces organized into three independent volumes that promote outdoor activities, leveraging the area’s temperate climate.

The floor plan follows an ‘L’ shape layout, encompassing key areas such as the living room, dining room, kitchen, bedrooms, and service areas. A studio with independent access via sculptural stairs in the patio is also included. Additionally, a double-height volume without a specific program enhances the design’s flexibility.

Sabino 10’s monolithic volumes develop around a central patio

The arrangement of the volumes forms a central patio, creating visual openness throughout the residence. To maintain seamless walls, storage spaces and bathrooms are hidden behind walnut wainscoting. Toward the patio, the volumes appear as monolithic masses in cantilever, resting on sliding panels within the walls, which extend the view and strengthen the connection with the outdoors.

The indoor-outdoor experience is enriched by a thoughtful selection of materials. Concrete, wood, and marble harmonize to create a cohesive aesthetic, with continuity maintained in the flooring. The silver poplar in the central patio adds a touch of natural warmth. Sabino 10 by Editorial architectural group emphasizes circulation and slender volumes to maximize space on its plot, providing a sense of spaciousness and comfort for its inhabitants.
