australian businessman clive palmer unveiled plans to introduce the ‘titanic II’ by blue star line, a re-construction of the original luxury ship which sunk in 1912 after colliding with an ice-berg in the north-atlantic ocean. the developmentof the new cruise-liner will provide users the opportunity to experience the edwardian period of ocean liner travel across the sea on a maiden voyage from southampton to new york in 2016.
the project aims to showcase and highlight artisan skill, creativity and dexterity, which to this day hasn’t been acknowledged due to the vessel’s limited service. constructed in memory of the heroic people who sadly passed away and survived the tragedy, the new ship will have a welded hull, diesel power generation, bow thrusters for increased maneuverability and a new hull form below the waterline providing greater stability and fuel efficiencies. the architecture comprises of 10 principle steel decks with state-of-the-art 21st century technology, latest navigation and safety systems, with construction to take place at CSC jinling shipyard in china.
