In a shift from last year’s concerns about heating our homes, this year, the spotlight turns to the very concept of having a home. As energy challenges escalate and societal stress heightens, it becomes increasingly difficult to reconcile with the status quo of our living conditions. Sebastian Koseda’s exhibition Fully Detached, on display at the Sarah Kravitz Gallery in London, eschews imagined futures, speculative timelines, and designed fantasies. Instead, it sheds light on the raw reality of the conditions of our cities today and the sense of displacement that pervades them through a series of sculptural artworks and graphic typologies.

sebastian koseda contemplates raw reality of urban lives

London-based designer Sebastian Koseda employs a fusion of graphic design and sculptures to challenge pre-existing modes of corporate visual communication, pushing them to the brink of self-critique. The exhibited works serve as a rigorous interrogation of the tools and language employed to perpetuate the contemporary city as a kind of purgatory. Fully Detached is accompanied with a folder containing written text contextualizing the works, alongside newly commissioned essays and visual responses to the addressed themes. The exhibition will be on display at the Sarah Kravitz Gallery from January 22 to February 4, 2024.
