bottega veneta opens a new space on london’s sloane street

Following the opening of its Saint-Tropez store in France,Bottega Veneta unveils a new retail space on London’s buzzing Sloane Street, the first of its kind in the region to embody the vision of BV’s Creative Director Matthieu Blazy. The sleek new boutique nestles on the ground floor of a traditional building, flooded with warm-gold lighting that elegantly complements the main facade’s white columns and brick surfaces.

Matthieu Blazy designed and developed the Bottega Veneta Sloane Street store around a palette of materials and techniques borrowed from the Veneto region in Italy; the fashion brand’s identity is not only reflected in the furniture but throughout the space, creating a uniquely intimate and sophisticated atmosphere that invites shoppers to relax, browse, and indulge in the Venetian aesthetics.

replicating the veneto region’s material palette & techniques

Upon entering the Bottega Veneta store on Sloane Street, a unique terrazzo flooring and composition of wooden volumes welcomes shoppers to walk deeper into the space. Terrazzo floors are deeply rooted in the Veneto Region: many of Venice’s buildings are faced with slabs of decorative stonework — the same goes for Venetian floorwork, which is well suited to the bustling city built on water. As such, inspired by the innate movement of water, the floor at the store replicates the oscillation of waves thanks to the combination of four different stones: Bardiglio, Carrara, Verde Alpi, and Grigio Carnico.

Spatially, Matthieu Blazy (see more here) molded the large retail interior into intimate corners with thick and dark wooden walls and glass cabinets. These cabinets divide and simultaneously allow views from one ‘room’ to another. Such a disposition of the wooden volumes creates a domestic and familiar shopping experience at any moment and on every corner.
