situated above an urban roadway, ‘cui zhu garden’ is a plot of land that introduces urban farming to the city of shenzhen. the site is positioned on one of the few hills in the municipality which were originally flatten in order to expand the community. developed by chinese firm urbanus, the junction structure mimics the rolling landscape and establishes a human element to the mundane migrant travel of the local residents. by coming into contact with soil and engaging an element of growth to the neighborhood, residents are able to connect and establish points of interaction with one another. the scheme turned a common landscape design into a program with a deeper social consciousness.
