‘B chair’ by konstantin grcic for BD barcelona
as a follow up to the ‘b-table’, german industrial designer konstantin grcic has developed ‘B chair’ for design company BD barcelona. it is a wooden seating unit featuring aluminum parts in its structure and x-shaped legs. its ability to fold up gives users the convenience of horizontal stacking. a decorative touch is concealed beneath the seat, which is available in various colors.
profile
grcic’s initial ‘B table‘ drew its influence from the classical pieces by BD barcelona, such as the hypostila shelving which has been in production since 1979. made by an extrusion process, the table can reach lengths of up to 360 cm and is supported on two simple wooden legs. ‘b table’ was the first in the extrusion collection and carries an aesthetic that is the product of both of industrial and manual processes. the result is a ‘highly crafted’ furniture design that is both solid and light. the ‘b chair’ seeks to be a complementary extension to this collection.
‘b chair’ was on presentation during the 2010 milan design week.
