‘kermesse’
‘kermesse’ by italian industrial designer giulio iacchetti for danese draws from the lamps of traditional village fairs, in which one sees a sequence of very simple but striking light bodies. the lighting system features a linear florescent source which is inserted in a transparent tube on which cylindrical diffusers are mounted. these shield the source while also adding light movement. each diffuser can rotate on itself and is independent from the others. given the adjustable cylinders and their material features, the light diffused is vibrant and uniform.

‘kermesse’ comes in various colors and materials. one version is composed of white modules with one orange or green cylinder that creates a subtle interruption in the sequence. they are all composed of fabric and polypropylene, which give support to the structure. in the second version, different shades of white alternate starting with a uniform opaline, another with a pixel and moire effect, followed by one that is uniform in texture and color.
‘kermesse’ is available in two different lengths according to the linear fluorescent source used and, thus, can be composed of five or seven different cylinders.
iacchetti’s new lighting system was presented as part of milan furniture fair 2010.
