40 000 visitors discovered the metamorphosis of the well-known première vision trade fair this year. french designer eric jourdan and art director francesca avossa redesigned the entire set as a white town made out of translucent corian material. from signage, custom-made furniture to the stands, reception counters and restaurants, the new design asserts the contemporary character of this established textile show.

the pristine white ambiance provide an ideal backdrop to the exhibitors’ colorful fabrics. arrays of soft vertical shaped superstructures made of vibrant silk-screened drapes, introduce variations of material and weaves in a play of light and shadow while maintaining the privacy required by exhibitors. stands are built from aluminum frames clad with corian, and draped with textiles up to the ceiling.
permanent signage system identifying hall spaces
the signage system designed in black and white to match the general code of the set, is created for two levels of perception.
one set of permanent signage is used to identify halls, aisles, exhibitors’ stands and services. they serve to provide legible, straightforward graphics for navigation and information. meanwhile, the seasonal signage identifies various sectors of activity. able to evolve all year-around, they are created with a more expressive and decorative aesthetic and embody the seasonal trends.

all the furniture supplied to exhibitors are custom-made. this includes the 4000 chairs, 9000 stools, 3700 tables and 3000 storage units whose minimalist design is partly attributed due to concerns over transport. the whole show, stands and furnishings, fits into 17 semi-trailers; most of which are foldable and stackable. the furniture is in steel and wood, the lamps are made from roto-moulded plastic with a steel base.
