designer damian o’sullivan has designed ‘skite’ for his company ‘the cottage industry‘.
‘skite’ = ‘sky’ + ‘kite’ – even on a clear day, fly your solitary little pixelated cloud high up in the sky and perhaps even cause some welcome shading down below.’
set up in 2003 the cottage industry designs and sells a number of products that it hopes will transfer simple wisdom onto their buyers by engaging them in mental participation. by gently subverting classical pieces damian o’sullivan and lisa smith aim to place an emphasis on content rather than form with their designs:
piggy-bank – cuts of the pig are labeled with phrases such as: ’round the world trip’ and ‘pay off mortgage’
unlucky numbers are missing from this ruler design
sketchpad for artists who want the best of both worlds
