somnio hanging tree trunk chairs by frederic julian rätsch
hamburg-based designer frederic julian rätsch has conceived ‘somnio’, a suspending chair that
hugs the trunk of a tree fixing itself to an attached belt on the upper end of the backrest.
in order to protect its bark, the furniture piece connects to the hardwood by pressing against
the seat pan through a load within two parallel legs. ultimately, the project encourages relaxation by
mending the user with the forest and their natural surroundings.
