dutch designer jeannine van erk of bel+bo presented ‘cocon malade’ and ‘boule malade’ at this year’s DMY berlin. their names translating as ‘sick cocoon’ and ‘sick ball,’ these two lampshade styles are created by hand from custom-dyed medical bandages. with van erk’s craftsmanship ensuring that no two are the same, the soft and simple forms create a light quality that is warm yet atmospheric.
