the ‘botoxcloud’ project uses folded paper models in a sculptural lighting installation
created by brussels and berlin-based design agency saq, the two-part ‘botoxcloud’ project consists of an interactive installation, in addition to the release with berlin design studio zirkumflex of a paper model edition of the sculptural work.
designed for DAS weekend and transmediale 2011, ‘botoxcloud‘ will be on exhibition at zirkumflex’s berlin gallery from january 28th to february 26th, 2011.

as installation, ‘botoxcloud’ is at once a conceptual exploration of complexity and a modular lighting system. the individual components are made of durable chromolux paper, cut and folded into an array of forms. these pieces are then assembled en masse in a work whose configuration is alterable, and whose appearance constantly changes with the changing light, shadows, and reflections that the folded models cast onto the space and one another.
closer view
designed to engage visitors to the installation more closely with the space, the 500 run limited edition paper model release provides the opportunity to better see and understand the process and materials behind ‘botoxcloud’. the abstract models can be constructed individually or united with others in a vast array of configurations.
