vienna-based studio, mischer’traxler have sent us images of ‘relumine’, a project that playfully mocks the task of switching all of our old light bulbs to new, energy saving sources.
the system uses two discarded lamps that are disassembled, refinished and retrofitted, then connected by a glass tube which houses a low-energy fluorescent bulb.
the various vintage and industrial lamps change in their look and feel through the integration of the new light source becoming a new, characteristic unit. together, the grouping of two lamps consumes less energy than each one individually in its previous state.
