eindhoven-based designer, luc van hoeckel has created ‘windmaker’ a fan for residential applications that operates off the grid.
modeled after a traditional cuckoo clock, the wooden fan uses weights and a joint system to power itself. a circulating breeze begins to generate when the weights which hang from the bottom are lifted. within five minutes the fan begins to cool its environment without the use of electricity.
