london-based designer julian mayor has released ‘intersect’, a limited edition task light whose form is based on computer graphic simulations of explosions.
mayor explains, ‘I was interested in the way the computer takes a surface and divides it in a dynamic way to create the illusion of momentum’.
crafted from three pieces of tinted acrylic the light slots together without any additional fasteners and uses a flat panel LED matrix as the light source.
‘intersect’ along with the previously released frame light, angle chair and may stool will be a part of the design auction at pierre berge in brussels on december 16, 2011.
