netherlands-based designers boaz cohen & sayaka yamamoto (BCXSY) have sent us images of their most recent work. ‘pavo’ are space dividers made of folded silk-screened paper. these giant fans are the result of experiments within a collaborative project ‘groot grafiek’, initiated by grafisch atelier daglicht, de krabbedans and cbk rotterdam, who invited 10 designers and artists to explore the possibilities of big-scale (manual) printing.
front view of ‘pavo’
both sides of the paper are printed using silk screen with a lined-pattern, originally hand-drawn with felt-markers. the folding lines are being embossed using blind-print technique. once folded a unique visual effect appears on the screens’ surfaces through the wrapping and deformation of the lines.
