the ‘bone’ and the ‘skin’

korean studio maezm (shin taiho) has designed ‘bone x skin’, a chair constructed from a lightweight wooden frame and solid carbon fiber. the shape of the chair is made from simple lines set as a structural bone supporting an epidermis – the carbon fiber. the concept of ‘bone and skin’ is deduced from its combination of materials and forms.

the chair was exhibited during tokyo designers week 2010 and at one-gallery exhibition in seoul, korea.

last year, maezm participated in the 2009 designboom mart in tokyo. it is always good to see that it works as a first presentation, before designers invest in a personal show.
