campana brothers x klein karoobowl / basket prototype made from ostrich leather
klein karoo of south africa, is a leading manufacturer of ostrich skin, giving new life to this highly recognizable leather, while at the same time aiming to develop awareness and encouraging its use in the fields of fashion and design.
klein karoo’s research and technological innovation has allowed for the development of new aesthetics (such as broadening the range of colors) and technical finishings (for example, softer the leather, the increased color fastness to light or to rubbing) for the leather. to confirm the versatility and possibilities of this noble leather, klein karoo is collaborating with the design world, by working together with the campana brothers (humberto and fernando campana) of brazil.

already known for their use of exploring new materials and creating objects from the unconventional, the campana brothers have decided to create a collection of objects and furniture for klein karoo ostrich leather. the prototypes of the collaboration will be presented at the milan salone del mobile 2011 in april, and sold at auction, with proceeds being entirely donated to a charitable entity.
