tokyo-based architecture and design office moment has sent us images of their newly finished project in ginza tokyo for japanese fashion designer issey miyake. the new shop for ‘bao bao issey miyake‘ specializes in bags and accessories with their main product being the ‘bilbao’, a handbag comprised of repeated triangular pieces. the design of the store aims to embody this concept of singular pieces making a whole and features a display case that utilizes a system of bar-like units.
able to be reconfigured in many forms and numbers, the detachable units allow for great flexibility and freedom when it comes to the displaying of products. some components carry a line of lights underneath to sufficiently illuminate the space without visible wiring or obstructions. by opting for an adaptable system of shelves rather than the conventional permanent variety, the products themselves are able to propel and direct the layout of the space.
