miriam aust: ‘vase & leuchte’ at interieur 2010 kortrijk
with her projects ‘vase & leuchte’ (vase & light) and ‘wohnbeet’, german designer miriam aust brings the garden home by combining domestic objects with plant cultures.
on show now at the ‘youngdesignersfair’, interieur 2010 in kortrijk, belgium, ‘vase & leuchte’ is a series of three glass lights that combine the functions of a ceiling lamp with a vase. a cylindrical barrier circumscribes the light fixture, providing a recess for the foliage. being made out of glass, the natural roots of the living plants become a decorative element to the object which can easily be lowered by hanging cables for watering and tending.
