contemporary british designer karen ryan is showing a collection of new work entitled, ‘awkward’ for this year’s london design week. known for her use of discarded and unwanted furniture, the pieces are a visual exploration of the ignored and the theme of femininity. the unconventional compositions of the sawed off furniture allow the viewer to meditate on the many meanings of chairs and the myth of perfect design.
‘awkward’ takes place at the marsden woo gallery‘s project space from the 23 september to 6 november, 2010.
